There's no oil shortage. Where are the long lines at the pumps and lowered highway speed limits? Shelley Capito's taken $257,995 in campaign contributions from the oil & gas industry while John McCain's received more than $549,712 from them as well. Former oil men Bush and Cheney likely feel that all those "contributions" were well invested, considering the over-inflated price we're now paying at the pump. On July 17, 2008, Shelley Capito voted against Nick Rahall's Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands Act of 2008. Capito's taken $257,995 in campaign money from the oil & gas industry while John McCain's received more than $549,712 from the same. Rep. Capito is a member of the House Banking and Securities oversight committee, but she's not said a word about Exxon's pumping $8 BILLION of their last quarter's record profits back into oil stocks to keep gas prices up. Why drill as long as Capito lets them just rake in stock profits? Anne Barth is against excessive oil market speculation.
