Kids have been arriving happy at John C. Myers Elementary School for 34 years, and it's thanks to one very special bus driver.

Katherine Phillips has made a huge impact on children in the Valley. In fact, at about 65 kids per bus for parts of 34 years, that means she's made a difference for about 2210 lucky riders.

"Each one has their own little personality, and I just enjoy every step of the way. I have now, teachers here that I helped pull up the steps years ago," she said.

"Mrs. Phillips, she's very concerned with the safety of our students, the welfare of our students," said assistant principal Michele Judd.

This will be her last year behind the wheel, but she'll always have quite an extended family.

"I've just tried to be a mama, grandma to them," she said.
