Development is sailing forward, and now there will be someone at the helm.
Waynesboro has hired a person to fill this seat as director of economic development.
She is Meghan Williamson. Williamson currently works at the Urban Institute in Washington D.C.
She graduated from the College of William and Mary and was a freelance journalist for the Blue Ridge Business Journal.
Williamson hails from the Roanoke Valley.
"Her heart is in the Valley," said City Manager Doug Walker. "A big part of her decision to leave Northern Virginia is so that she can come back to her rural roots and make a difference in a town like Waynesboro."
Williamson will start May 15.
