Two men have been arrested for a string of motor vehicle thefts and related burglaries that have happened in Augusta County since September 2007.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office has been working on the investigation and as the result of a cooperative 11-month investigation that included the Virginia State Police, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, Page County Sheriff's Office, Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office, the Staunton and Harrisonburg Police Departments and the West Virginia State Police, two Broadway, Virginia men have been taken into custody.

The men, 27-year-old Travis Lee Lam and 24-year-old Royce Lee Miller, face 45 felony charges for the thefts and burglaries that began in Augusta County.

The investigation is ongoing but the theft ended in May 2008 and the current charges come from the Augusta County incidents only. The men are facing additional charges in other jurisdictions including Harrisonburg and Shenandoah County.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office has currently cleared 30 local criminal cases and recovered 16 stolen vehicles that have been attributed to Lam and Miller. The total of the lost property exceeds $182,850 in stolen property and goods, many of which were automobiles that were subsequently recovered.

In addition to the stolen vehicles, Lam and Miller are also tied to two large catalytic converter thefts which occurred at Staunton Hyundai on September 10, 2007 and February 14, 2008 that netted $36,700 in converters as well as seven commercial burglaries that occurred in Augusta County during the time the pair operated in the area.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
