One of the men charged in the racing accident that resulted in the death of a local teenager will see a judge in December. Wednesday afternoon, family and friends came together in memory of the victim.

Eighteen-year-old Brittany Engleman's life was cut short last October in a drag racing accident along Route 42 in Augusta County near Buffalo Gap High School.

Loved ones say they're patiently awaiting the outcome of each case for the three men involved. A tight-knit group gathered at the spot where the accident occurred to read poems, share memories, and show support.

Brittany's mother, Tammy Harris, says justice needs to be served in the name of her daughter.

"Whatever should happen, maybe somebody would think twice, or be more careful out on the road, use more caution, another family wouldn't have to go through this," says Harris.

Three men were charged in the incident. Robert Gaylor's jury trial is to begin August 18 and Cory Beasley's trial is set for August 26. Torrance Mack's jury trial date was set Tuesday for December 10.

Today was a big smack to the face, lets just tell these kids its ok to go out and race,( I personly think the jury wanted to get home for supper) that was way to quick. But them again they didn't burie the best friend either. Im so sorry Brittany. And the way the girl ran out of the court throwing her arms in the air and yelling Yay. Clearly states what type of people you are dealing with.

To Sherry...yes I can say the same. I think about her every day before I go to bed and every day when I wake up. I guarantee I think about her MUCH more everyday than you do. I would bet my life on that. You have no idea what it feels like. You truly do not know.

Brittany was the type of person you only run across once in a life time. She could have made this would a better place, she had so much to offer. She was not only beautiful on the outside, but inside as well. She had such a love for butterflies, carebears and the color purple. She never meet a stranger. She could lift you up no matter how bad your day was. She could make you laugh and forget the world around you. She loved her family and friends with all she had. Brittany would have went far in life. She cared about everything and everybody. Its impossible to let go of someone like that. It was so beautiful to see that purple and black butterfly flying around us as we rememberd Britt. I know she is still with us. We will do all we can to keep Brittany's memory alive. Thank you to the great job Keith Jones did and covering this. Tammy, Danny, Courtney, Caleb,Nanny and Grandaddy and Kathy you will always be in our hearts and prayers. Brittany loved you whole heartedly.

They say time heals all wounds, I don't believe this. I think it makes it easier to deal with. We all have bad days, but some can not be forgivin like the ones that took Britt. I will always be here for you no matter what!!! Tammy you stay in my heart always.

My heart goes out to her! No parent should have to go through this! I can only hope that she gets the justice that she deserves in court. It will not bring back her daughter but it will keep that trash from hurting anyone else!! Best of luck to you Tammy, My thought and prayers are with you!!

Yesterday was beautiful Britt! We read some of the poems your mom has written and while she was talking to the reporter a butterfly flew over us and we knew it was you~you will always be with each and every one of us. Thank you for continuing to find ways to reassure us that you are still with us in times when its easy to lose sight of that. We are all truly blessed to have such a beautiful and loving angel watching over us. We love and miss you so so much Brittany Nicole Engleman. Thank you WHSV for your continued coverage and support!

I also wanted to add that Brittany is Loved and Missed very much, and there is not a day that goes by that I (and many others) dont think about her. She truly is and was a very special person.

I agree with Brittany's mom, Tammy. Justice needs to be served on these boys, and lessons taught to prevent future accidents like this one. Brittany Nicole was an amazing person and did not deserve to lose her life because some boys wanted to something so stupid with her in the car. Lets leave the racing to the professionals!

I would like to thank the news paper for running another article about a loving, caring person that Brittany was.It has been a long nine months, since Brittany was taking away from her family and friends way to soon.Brittany was at my daughter's baby shower 2 days before her accident happened.Brittany was going to be my unborn grandson's "GODMOMMA" as Brittany called it.She will never be able to see him smile, see his personality grow or even his take his first step.Noone knows how this inmature act has affected the family. There is not a day that goes by we see something that reminds us of her,her charming smile, her beautiful hair blowing in the wind, her smell,or someone acting silly like Brittany was famous of doing. She would light up a room when she walked in.We close our eyes at night wishing we could see her one more time. The people that was with her in the early morning hours ..can you say the same?I hope and pray JUSTICE will be served.
