Body Found in River Identified Save Email Print

On Thursday, the Morgantown Police Department recovered a body of a female in the Monongahela River north of Star City, West Virginia.

The body was discovered during follow up investigation into the disappearance of Carmen Gloria Sanchez Gutierrez, a Chilean National who was studying in the Morgantown Area.

The investigation into the death is being conducted by the West Virginia State Police due to the body being located outside the city limits of Morgantown, West Virginia. Senior Trooper C. D. Whetzel of the Morgantown Detachment is the lead investigator.

The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for an autopsy. Preliminary results revealed no obvious signs of physical injury to the body. This investigation is ongoing.

The body has been positively identified as Carmen Gloria Sanchez Gutierrez.
