The Augusta County Planning Commission approved a measure Tuesday to make sure new subdivisions have enough water pressure for fire hydrants.
New language will be added to the current ordinance that requires hydrants to be installed. The closer buildings are together, the higher the fire flow standard.
The fire chief and service authority have administratively been performing these actions for years, but placing the language in code will make it an official action plan with clear requirements.
The Augusta County Board of Supervisors will also act on this ordinance at its August 27 meeting.
