The woman accused of hitting and killing a moped rider in Waynesboro in July has been sentenced.

On Monday, 25-year-old Nora Quezada was sentenced to 180 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for the accident on North Delphine Road that killed 50-year-old Michael Baber.

She was charged with driving with a suspended license. The prosecutor's office says Quezada is also in the country illegally, so the Waynesboro Police Department called Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Quezada is currently being held at the Middle River Regional Jail, but it is unknown when or if ICE may take action.

good comments. 180 days in jail and $1000 fine? seems mighty light if you ask me.would a legal citizen with a legal license have had such an easy sentence???

The Shenandoah Valley, like most regions of the U.S., is widely known to be a sanctuary to illegal immigrants. A place where law enforcement "looks the other way", where dishonest employers welcome the "cheap" labor, and a place where liberals (who work in sectors that are in no way threatened by illegals) are sympathetic. Also, there are still a few states (like NC) where illegal immigrants can walk into the DMV and obtain driver's licenses without documentation, then bring the licenses to VA to be transferred. The illegals immigrants use multiple aliases, stolen identities, and flat out fraud. Look, they crossed our border illegally...do you really expect them to be model "citizens"? True, they generally don't look for trouble, because they are here illegally. True, they work hard, because they'll be deported if they don't. They should be deported, and if they want to return for their "American Dream", they can get an education, apply for a visa, & TRY to pass the background checks.

If this lady is here illegally how did she ever recieve a drivers liscence to begin with because the article stated that her liscence was suspended
