Local authorities are involved in a standoff situation following a double shooting in Rockingham County. The shooting happened just before noon Sunday along Donnelly Drive in the Spring Creek area of Rockingham County, just west of Bridgewater.

Witnesses say a man and a women were shot. Authorities say the female victim is dead. The male victim is in serious condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Witnesses say the victims may have been shot with an assault rifle.

The alleged shooter is barricading himself inside the house where witnesses say the shooting took place. The alleged gunman is identified as 23-year-old Jonathan Grattan of Rockingham County. Members of the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County Swat Teams are on the scene, trying to bring the situation under control.
