Children from low-income families in West Virginia are about to get acquainted with a Birkenstock-clad kangaroo named Sue.
The state Women, Infants and Children program, which serves more than 52,000 residents, announced Wednesday that it will receive 20,000 copies of the popular children's book "Marsupial Sue."
The books are being donated through a program called Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories, in which 100,000 copies are given away to low-income families nationwide.
The program required families to answer trivia questions about children's books and then vote online for states to receive donations. West Virginia finished in the top five vote getters.
