A man suspected of being the "plaid shirt robber" who held up banks in West Virginia and other states has been arrested in Missouri.

Missouri State Police arrested Joseph Paul Young Thursday along Interstate 44.

A Missouri State Police statement says the 30-year-old Young was traveling westbound at a slow rate of speed and his vehicle was stopped for a registration violation. A computer database check revealed several felony warrants on the Rogersville, Missouri resident.

The charges include robbery in Charleston, robbery with a firearm in Elizabethown, Kentucky, and probation and parole warrants in Missouri.

Police dubbed the robber the "plaid shirt robber" because surveillance video showed him wearing plaid shirts in multiple robberies.
