The Waynesboro Police Department now says a man they believed had shot himself was actually shot by someone else.

They arrested 18-year-old Brian H. Henkel of Waynesboro Monday for last week's shooting of 21-year-old Josh Via.

Henkel is charged with unlawfully discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling.

Via was found shot in the chest on Pine Avenue last Monday night. He was in critical condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center last week.

Via is currently listed in good condition.

Police originally thought Via had shot himself by accident. An automatic handgun was found at the scene, and witnesses had told police very different accounts of what had happened.

Henkel is out on bond.

he didnt say anything cause he was scared at first, and panicked, and jet begged him not to tell them the truth, and then got mad at brian when brian came clean, brian came clean cause he wanted them to know the trust and knew itd come out eventually, he wanted to make things right, i know both of them, and i swear if they try locking brian up for anymore than a real short time, im gonna help him fight it publically cause of the information that i have on how the police treated him, and lied to him. and jet is even trying to get him out of trouble, if jet thought it wasnt on accident why would he be trying to help brian leila? explain that one...and why would brian always be feelin so bad about it that we gotta try to cheer him up....come on now, get the facts before posting something like that

If it was an accident and he feels so bad, why did they lie to police and say it was self-inflicted. Some friend!!!
