The volunteer group of citizen soldiers serves as a back up for the National Guard. Right now the Gurad is in Cuba and the Defense Force has taken charge of the Armory in Harrisonburg.
It's raising money by selling patriotic car magnets for five dollars. All donations will help the volunteers buy equipment.
The Defense Force says it also needs YOU.
Volunteer Linda Tobin, says, "We need all the volunteers we can get. All ages 18 to 65, men or women. All we have to do is one weekend a month."
The next weekend training will be April 13 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Armory. For more information or to purchase a magnet call Captain Jesse Miller at (540) 434-7154.
