Faulty wiring is to blame for the fire for Churchville's Jerusalem Chapel United Brethren Church. It started in the old chapel, which is more than a century old. Still, Parishioners are keeping a positive tone as they try and rebuild together.

"It was a blow but at the same time we have the strength through the Lord and we will carry on," says life time church member Harold Fry.

"A lot of people say oh your church is gone," says 49 year member Emily Griffin. "Our church is the people and they are not gone."

"Sometimes bad things happen to good people and when that takes place I think it's a way for us to witness just how good God really is and that's he'll carry us through," says Jerusalem Pastor Denny Sites.

"We just know he has a plan for us," says Griffin. "We don't know exactly what it is but it is for bigger and better things."

"When you have troubles people are drawn together," adds Fry. "It's the source of strength and it just shows the power of the Lord."

"We're just one big family," says Griffin. "We just have a wonderful time together. This will just improve that if possible."

"I think we need to make a very strong statement to the world and to God that his work continues on, whether we have a building or not and whether things are perfect or whether they are not," says Pastor Sites.

That statement will come in probably two of the most meaningful services ever at the church. Both take place Sunday morning at the newer chapel saved from the fire at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

WHSV Poll
A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
