A potential strike at a local plant has been averted. Employees at McQuay in Verona have ratified a new work contract.
Last week, many of them marched outside the plant to show their displeasure with how negotiations were going.
On Sunday employees voted to strike at midnight on Monday, but after a meeting Monday the two sides agreed on a 48-hour extension.
Tuesday all three shifts voted on the latest proposal and at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday evening it was announced that an agreement had been reached.
