It's been a busy year for the Shenandoah Shakespeare Blackfriars Playhouse.
The playhouse has sold more than 53,000 tickets in the first nine months it was opened. Theater officials only projected it would sell 40,000 tickets in its first year.
Playhouse executive director Ralph Cohen says they're happy but they're not taking it for granted.
"For all we know this first year people are just curious," said Executive Director Ralph Cohen. "If things work out like we'd like them to, then the partnership of education, the arts and tourism will mean this will be one of Shakespeare's destinations."
At least 4,000 of the tickets sold were to people outside Virginia.
The Playhouse will hold its next performance on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. and it is called Love's Labours Lost.
