Police in Franklin County have arrested two men accused of stealing a gun from a man who had committed suicide.

Media outlets report 21-year-old Ameche Pettie is charged with grand larceny of a firearm, while 26-year-old Kenneth Caldwell Jr. is charged with principle in the second degree to larceny of a firearm and giving false information to a police officer.

Both men are from Rocky Mount.

Investigators found the man's body on Monday near U.S. Route 220 but couldn't locate the gun. Lt. G. Todd Maxey says police later determined the pair stole the gun after calling 911 to report the suicide.
