A grant of nearly $2 million will help researchers at Wheeling Jesuit University continue studying how video games can help students learn scientific concepts.

The Center for Educational Technologies is getting the money from the National Science Foundation for a two-year project. It continues research first funded by NASA in 2006.

Debbie Denise Reese, a senior educational researcher, will direct the work, refining a video game that prompts players to use science concepts in an effective but entertaining way.

She says the goal is to make learning science more intuitive.

The school is recruiting players ages 13 to 18 to help with the study.
