There is a special project underway to help displaced families in Iraq, as part of this year's Virginia Mennonite relief sale.

Volunteers are trying to gather 1,500 care packages, which include ten different personal care items.

This project is part of a $2-million Mennonite Central Committee humanitarian effort. The group says this is only a small part of helping families in a difficult time.

"There are millions of people caught up in this war and the tangible results of war that have been waged there, over the last seven years. This means that there are a lot of needy people," says Luke Schrock-Hurst, the Mennonite central community representative at EMU.

The group will be at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds Saturday.
