Terry Martin Junior and Dejuan Hodgins Junior were on trial Wednesday on charges of "wounding by mob." The charges stem from a series of alleged attacks against JMU students last October.
Wednesday was day two of the trial - and in a surprise move, Hodgins pleaded guilty.
But Martin's trial continued. The jury came back Wednesday afternoon, after four hours of deliberation, saying they were hopelessly deadlocked.
The judge asked them to reconsider the case and sent them back to the jury room. Forty minutes later, the judge adjourned the court, saying the jury will reconvene at 9 a.m.
