In this week's What's Going Around, we begin in Page County where something that it is actually quite common is making its rounds.

Dr. Jeffrey Feit is treating scabies. Scabies are microscopic bugs in the louse family. They burrow under the skin and cause an intense reaction with severe itching. Symptoms include that severe itch, a rash that can be small bumps along the waistline or the sock line and on the hands.

Feit treats scabies with Permethrin 5 percent, which is a cream that you apply before bed and wash off in the morning. As you treat scabies, don't forget to clean your bedding and other places you may hang out.

In Waynesboro, Dr. Melissa Hostetter is seeing several children with viral sore throats and fever. She says those without a runny nose or cough, who are complaining of headache or stomach ache may be more likely to have strep, so keep that in mind.

Seasonal allergies and walking pneumonia are also going around.
