Friday marks the beginning of the second annual energy sales tax holiday in Virginia.

High-efficiency products with the Energy Star label or WaterSense certification that cost $2,500 or less will be exempt from sales tax through Monday.

During last year's holiday, Virginians saved an estimated $166,000, in addition to long-term savings through reduced utility costs.

John Tulloss, owner of the Staunton Sears, says his store has already passed sales from last year and he looks for a 20-percent increase on Saturday.

He adds, "It's also created a lot of sales for us, but it's also helping global warming, and helping the customer out there who's looking to update their appliances, their older appliances. It's going to help them save about 30 percent off their electrical bill."
