A few dozen local students are trying to make their school a little greener. This is the first year James Madison University is taking part in Campus Sustainability Day.
Students sorted through the school's trash, picking out recyclables, in an effort to raise awareness on helping the environment at school.
"For us, more so focusing on sustainability on campus, because college campuses are a really good place to get that going," says Pelham Beck, a senior and member of JMU EARTH. "There are a lot of active students and faculty that are into that also."
The College of Business also announced plans for its sustainable business competition. People with ideas for business in clean technology are encouraged to apply. The top prize is a $100,000 investment in your company. People from around the Harrisonburg area are invited to take part.
