Divers will resume searching today for a missing Linden man whose boat sank in the Shenandoah River yesterday in Clarke County.
Buddy Cook, chief of Shenandoah Farms Fire and Rescue Department, says Bobbie Williams is presumed drowned. His wife Donna was rescued after their boat capsized in rapids near the Warren County line.
Cook says Bobbie Williams tossed a life jacket to his wife as he hung on to the flat-bottomed metal boat, which quickly sank.
Donna Williams floated downstream for more than an hour when an unidentified fisherman on the riverbank heard her yelling for help and rescued her.
Fire and rescue officials began searching for the missing man Thursday afternoon, and found the Williams' boat. Crews planned to resume their efforts Friday.
Cook says recent rains have made the river for boaters to maneuver.
