Local authorities have been getting ready in case a bio-terrorist attack happens in the Valley. Tonight Central Shenandoah Health District Director Doug Larsen gave a report to Harrisonburg City Council.
"Are we better prepared than we were say 2-years ago...the answer to that is yes," Dr. Doug Larsen, Central Shenandoah Health District. "Do we still have a long way to go, the answer is yes."
Larsen says they do have a team inoculated and ready to respond if smallpox broke out and teams are also being inoculated at the hospitals.
He says through education and awareness, more and more doctors are becoming educated in biological and neurological agents. But more education and training are needed.
