Golf Course in the Rough

The city will end up paying up to $500,000 more for the course than expected. And the money would have to come from the general fund, which is supposed to be for emergencies.

Mayor Joe Fitzgerald says it wasn't given to the schools; it shouldn't be given to the golf course.

"The fact is we still have a bond payment, still have a shortfall or deficit if you will in the golf course operating budget this year and $155,000 is a lot of money," said Fitzgerald.

He says the golf course advisory committee has to keep asking for money, because cuts were made to the original plan that shouldn't have been. He says we'll be playing catch up for a while before we get out of the rough.
