Sentencing will be in January for two West Virginia brothers convicted of federal charges related to about 85 pharmacy burglaries in Illinois and nine other states.

A federal jury in East St. Louis convicted 52-year-old Rex Hatfield and 48-year-old Everly Hatfield of Oceana on Wednesday of conspiracy to commit pharmacy burglaries and distribute controlled substances.

Jurors also returned special verdicts finding that four deaths resulted from the Hatfields' drug-trafficking scheme. That's punishable by up to life in prison.

Testimony revealed that the Hatfields headed a group that committed the break-ins, including a dozen in southern Illinois. Between 1998 and 2004, they stole more than $500,000 worth of drugs.

The Hatfields apparently took the stolen drugs to West Virginia and Virginia to be sold.
