A popular item on the Rockingham County ballot was the much debated four-percent meals tax.

Residents and business owners made arguments for both sides, but in the end, it did not pass.

On one hand, some of the restaurants that would have been affected by this meals tax say they just couldn't see charging their customers more money.

On the other hand, members of the Rockingham county PTA supported the meals tax, because it was expected to generate hundreds of thousands of dollars, all of which would go to public schools in the county.

After all the votes were counted, 15,109 people voted in favor, but 17,134 voted against the tax.

Towns in the county that already have a meals tax would have been exempt.

Harrisonburg already has a six percent meals tax, the rest of Rockingham should get in on the action, it sucks.

I don't understand why they need raise tax, when you see all those new house and new subdivision, I see new property that they tax, I see that in the last ten years the number of house doubled, so the tax revenue with it, I think the problem is that the county waste the money on useless stuff, and they expect that We pay for it, I don't think so

A committee in the House of Delegates has sent a bill to the House floor that would allow private, faith-based adoption agencies to discriminate against prospective parents based on their sexual orientation. Would you support this?

Yes, I think if it is a private organization it's okay.
No, there should be no discrimination.
It should depend on a case by case basis.
