Gov. Joe Manchin says he plans to pursue an aggressive legislative agenda next year that will focus on education, health care and energy development.
The 61-year-old Democrat was re-elected Tuesday after securing nearly 70 percent of the vote against two challengers.
Manchin says he sees the vote as a mandate by West Virginians to grow the state's economy and work to create a better educated work force.
The governor did not provide details of his plans. But he says all working West Virginians should have health care coverage.
Manchin will have additional time to work on his proposals, as next year's session won't begin in earnest until February. The late start occurs every four years following a gubernatorial election.
