Just over a year since one mayor resigned, the city of Richwood is again embroiled in troubles over its top executive.

The City Council has demanded that Mayor John McClung resign, claiming he has mismanaged city funds, took on debt without council approval and allowed city workers to drink on the job.

The council is threatening to ask a court to oust McClung from office, and has brought its complaint to the Nicholas County prosecutor's office.

McClung, who was elected in May, says he's done nothing wrong and won't leave office.

Last September, Bob Henry Baber resigned as Richwood's mayor shortly before a three-judge panel was scheduled to hear a case that sought his impeachment.
