The city of Staunton has a new firetruck with features that will improve safety for both fire fighters and citizens.

The 2008 Engine 2 firetruck arrived at Station 1 and will be replacing a reserve engine that's more than 20 years old.

The most notable new feature is a 6,000 watt movable light tower that will become a major asset for scene lighting.

The engine will be operational at Station 2 on Grubert Avenue within a few weeks.

If they don't use their sirens and then somebody pulls in front of them, its their fault. They can't win. A truck like this would have been on order for over a year....long before the funding crunch hit. Plus, this is a capital item, the "whining" regards manpower, or operational expenses. Pay attention if you are going to post comments.

I don't what they do with it. JUST KEEP IT QUIET AT NIGHT! We don't need (or appreciate)this dramatic screaming through the empty streets in the middle of the night or early morning hours!

They're whining about funding, and now this? OH PLEASE!
