One employee of Cargill in Dayton sacrificed more than money in order to raise money for the United Way.
Craig Hofstetter sacrificed his hair that he'd been growing for the last three and half years.
Cargill employees voted on the style of hair cut by placing money in jars marked for their their preferred style. The winning style was a mohawk.
Barry Berger, a purchasing manager for Cargill, says, "It was something different. Nobody had ever done this before. He felt he needed a trim, so we started talking about it and next thing you know we decided we're going to have three jars out there, and whatever jar raised the most money would be the style of haircut he got. It just so happened it was the mohawk, and so he now has a mohawk."
Bruce Michel of the Hair Corral donated his time for the hair cut.
A Cargill representative says the company will reach its goal of $81,000 to give to the United Way because of Hofstetter's participation.
