The Prince William Board of County Supervisors has voted to accept federal funds to reduce the number of foreclosed homes in the county.
The county will receive $4 million from the U.S. housing department's Neighborhood Stabilization Fund to facilitate the purchase of about 50 homes in Prince William, Manassas and Manassas Park.
About $2.7 million will provide money for down payments, closing costs or repairs to people who buy the homes. Another $1 million will go to faith-based groups and nonprofit entities looking to buy the properties.
