The mother of a sailor who fell overboard and is presumed dead off the coast of Virginia says she's not satisfied with how the military handled informing her of the incident.
Betty Williams is the mother of Petty Officer Third Class Dwayne Williams. The 23-year-old fell from the Norfolk-based USS Nassau on Friday as it was bringing members of the Camp Lejeune-based 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit back to North Carolina.
Military officials say Dwayne Williams was chasing a football when he tripped and fell overboard. Betty Williams says she's not satisfied with that explanation, adding that it makes it sound like her son was on the deck messing around.
Betty Williams says her son was born in Kinston, North Carolina. The family moved to Philadelphia when he was ten years old.
