Gas Prices Affect Costs of School Lunches

Parents and students listen up, some of you will be paying more for school breakfast and lunch this year and increasing gas prices are to blame.

Parents and students listen up, some of you will be paying more for school breakfast and lunch this year and increasing gas prices are to blame.

Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County School Systems are all increasing the price of a school breakfast and lunch by a quarter. Food Services Coordinators at each school system say the reason for the increase is because of fuel costs for food delivery.

There will be no increase this year in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Harrisonburg had an increase last year and Rockingham County increased its elementary school lunch prices by 10-cents last year. Free and reduced lunches are not affected by any increases.
