A family from Stanley is homeless after a fire destroyed their trailer Monday night.

According to Fire Chief Terry A. Pettit, the Stanley Fire Department responded to the fire around 11 p.m. in Bosley Trailer Park off of East Main Street.

Pettit stated that the fire started around an electrical panel box in a closet bedroom and quickly spread into the living room and then throughout the trailer.

Harry and Crystal Brittingham and their seven-year-old son and two-year-old daughter were able to escape the fire without injury.

Louis Bosley owns the trailer and was insured. However, the Brittingham's did not have any insurance and the trailer was a total loss.

Pettit estimates the damage at around $45,000.

Seven units and 23 firefighters fought the blaze and were on the scene for about two hours. Stanley Rescue also stood by the scene with one unit.

Pettit added a trailer located next to the Brittingham's received minor heat damage.
