The Fifth Annual Farmers Insurance Group of Companies® study says Harrisonburg, Virginia has ranked as the eighth most secure place to live in the United States among small towns.
This is the third consecutive year that Harrisonburg has been in the Top 20 in the Farmers study.
The rankings, compiled by database experts at Best Places online, took into consideration crime statistics, extreme weather, risk of natural disasters housing depreciation, foreclosures, air quality, life expectancy and job loss numbers in 138 U.S. towns with populations under 150,000.
“The Farmers Most Secure Places to Live survey reveals a lot about how local governments and citizens work together to make their communities a desirable choice for individuals and families to live, work and grow,” notes Robert Woudstra, CEO, Farmers Group, Inc. “Farmers congratulates all of the communities ranking in the Farmers Secure Places to Live study.
“Since it’s founding in 1928, Farmers has been committed to improving the communities where its customers, agents and employees live and work. Improving safety, expanding educational opportunities, enhancing health and human services, encouraging civic participation and supporting the arts and culture help drive Farmers’ commitment.”
