Police say fires at two stores in Winchester Saturday night were the work of arsonists.

The Winchester Police Department says the first fire involved several piles of women's clothing at the JC Penney store in Apple Blossom Mall. The blaze caused about $5,000 in damage.

The second fire was at a K-mart store. Damage from that blaze is estimated at $500,000. Investigators say witness identifications helped them line up some suspects, but no charges have been filed.

The K-mart was closed Sunday, but reopened Monday.
