It's an event that is more than a month and 140 miles away, but already it's bringing business to Waynesboro.

Hotel rooms during the inauguration for President-elect Barack Obama are filling up fast in the city.

The Best Western Conference Center in Waynesboro is already completely booked on January 19 and 20.

Two tour groups booked the 75 guest rooms just two weeks after the election. One group is a high school band from Illinois performing in the inaugural parade.

The groups plan on driving back and forth each day, even leaving as early as 2 a.m. to beat traffic.

Director of Sales & Marketing Colleen Fridley says, "Our understanding is that with the minimum length of stay and the high prices in D.C., it just makes it prohibitive. The interest and the shear amount of people, we did just did not think it would impact us at this hotel, and we are pleasantly surprised."

Fridley adds that the band asked for a place to practice, so people passing by in front of the conference center may catch a preview glimpse of them in their parking lot the day before the inauguration.
