It's a year of probation for a former State Department contractor who took illegal peeks at the passport information of nearly 200 celebrities, athletes, actors and politicians.

Lawrence C. Yontz of Arlington, Virginia pleaded guilty this year to misdemeanor unauthorized computer access.

Prosecutors and Yontz said at his sentencing hearing Friday that he did not share the passport information with anyone. So U.S. Magistrate Judge John M. Facciola accepted their recommendation of probation.

Yontz also will have to do 50 hours of community service. He apologized to the people who had put their trust in him. The peeking took place over a three-year period.
