Firefighters got the call around four o'clock for a fire at Old Mill Apartments on South Avenue. No one was in the apartment at the time the fire started. Neighbors heard the sound of an explosion and saw smoke coming out of a window.

"The window was dislodged when we got here. I assume it was caused by the over pressurization of the smoke build-up inside of the apartment, just kind of blew the frame loose," said Chief Larry Shifflet, Harrisonburg Fire Department.

Chief Shifflet says the fire was contained to the one apartment. He estimates the damages at around $35 to $4,000. There is still no word on the cause of the fire.
