Growing Again

Rockingham County supervisors have approved a rezoning of 50 acres near Woodstone Meadows. Some residents are concerned the construction, traffic, and height of new buildings will devalue their property.

But the resort says it's a good neighbor.

Henry Clark, attorney for Great Eastern Resort, Co., says, "We think we are a betterment to them rather than a detriment. You know the growth and vitality of things going on around you increases your values and so forth."

Massanutten says it supplies the county with $1.5 million in tax revenue each year.

Clark says that's in addition to 75 million tourism dollars for the area. He admits the resort's expansion disrupts the peace and quiet of the neighborhood, but he says Massanutten is Rockingham County's biggest attraction and it needs to grow.
