How long is VABC going to allow The Pub to operate outside the laws of this state. Well we now have a death by the hands of a bartender drinking after ours. Not to mention their liscense is currently under suspension for after hours drinking. Way to go VABC its time for new ownership and management at that location

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE STAFF DRINKS WHILE THEY CLEAN UP. WHEN THE LIGHTS COME ON YOU HAVE LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES TO FINISH YOUR DRINK AND GET OUT. UNLESS YOU NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES AND HANGING OUT AND WAITING, IN WHICH CASE YOU ARE JUST AS QUILTY AS THEY ARE. THE SECURITY COMPANY KNOWS WHAT TIME THE ALARM WAS SET THAT NIGHT AND IT WAS SHORTLY AFTER TWO A.M. SO WHERE WAS BESS IS SHE COVERING UP FOR SOMEONE'S BAR OR A FRIEND. SHE WAS MAD AT HER BF AFTER THEY ARGUED MAYBE SHE JUST WANTS TO TAKE HIM DOWN WITH HER. ANOTHER THING THEY SAID WAS ARRESTED AT 9:00 P.M, THEY HAD HER IN CUSTODY AT 7:00 A.M. SO SHE MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN DRUNK AS YOU ALL THINK. OF COURSE SHE STILL WOULD HAVE SMELLED OF ALCOHOL. SHE DESERVES TO BE PUNISHED SEVERLY AND I COULDN'T BEGIN TO IMAGINE BEING IN THE ANDERSON'S POSITION. BEING A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 I COULDN'T IMAGINE LOSING A KID OF MY OWN OR THEM LOSING ME. MY PRAYERS AN THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE ANDERSON FAMILY.

Growing up in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham area, what a terrible tragedy for all involved. As I know, that such events in a small community can create great opinion and debate and the consequences of alcohol related incidents. However, we must also look at the disease theory of alcohol and the legal considerations involved such as what constitutes "willful misconduct". In order to understand this horrific situation a community need to become more informed on alcoholism and all legal considerations involved. Tremendous research exists on the disease and it's legal considerations. A great place to learn about alcoholism/alcohol dependence is the World Health Organization or various other medical associations. To research the legal considerations you may want to review a 1988 Supreme Court decision, TRAYNOR v. TURNAGE, 485 U.S. 535 (1988) that discusses "willful misconduct". Finally, we can only pray for those involved in this very unfortunate tradgedy.

Its no secret that the staff drinks there after hours. I, too, have seen it myself.

As I’ve been sitting here reading all of the comments on this topic I find myself feeling very sad…angry..and even maybe a little vulnerable. What I have realized is how as a society we are impacted by any loss. I cannot count the times I myself have run down that very road in the dark or the times when I have come close to running off the road in my car when I was tired. Not one of us know the truth, except those involved, so I think it really isn’t our place to judge. Everything we love and care about can be gone in an instant. When faced with such a horrible tragedy, we go through many different feelings that are difficult for us to communicate. This is how I reason with the hurtful things said here. My prayers today go out to both families and to our community. I hope that we can all someday find forgiveness and never forget the difficult lessons we all stand to learn here. I was once told a story about a man who lost his whole family in a tragic car accident. That night he went to his church to pray, and was greeted by his pastor. The pastor asked the man what he was praying for so he could pray with him. The man replied that he was “thanking God.” The pastor was a little surprised and asked the man, “What are you thankful for at a time like this?” and a man answered, “I am thankful that not all days are going to be bad as today.”….So if any family members, loved ones, or friends read this..please remember that these next few days are going to be very hard…but, not all days will be as hard as today…

Come on people. I am with you for the fact that she committed and crime and killed someone and should pay, but it was her choice to drink if she did it and not "The Pub"s fault. No more makes anyone do anything.

The Pub closes at 1:30. The accident happened at 5:30. How anyone can connect the two is absurd. This is a tragedy, but don't go blaming area businesses for it.
