I send my deepest sympathy to the family Anderson family, I can't believe this young lady is free on bond,There are alot of drivers on the road , drinking and they have no drivers liscense . ? If they do get caught the judge slaps them on the wrist and sends them on their way. And Familys suffer.

I THINK BESS DESERVES EVERYTHING SHE GETS AND MORE. I AGREE THAT SHE SHOULD HAVE HARSHER PENALTIES AND DENIED BAIL. BUT EVERYONE CONTINUES TO BLAME THE PUB FOR SOMETHING THEY HAD NO CONTROL OVER THAT NIGHT. MONDAY NIGHTS ARE SLOWER NIGHTS FOR THE PUB SO THE OWNERS ARE NOT ALWAYS THERE. WHAT ABOUT FINNIGAN'S SHE DRANK THERE BEFORE SAYING THAT THEY WENT TO THE PUB AND DRANK. BUT NO ONE THINKS THAT THEY ARE AT FAULT, IT ALL FALLS ON THE PUB BECAUSE SHE WAS EMPLOYED THERE. WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED AND SHE HAD BEEN EMPLOYED ELSE WHERE NO ONE WOULD BE BLAMING THE BARS THEN. WHICH THEY DIDN'T DRINK TAT THE PUB LIKE SHE SAYS THEY DID. ALSO WHEN SHE HIT ANDERSON SHE WAS TRAVELING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION TO BE COMING FROM THE PUB IT WAS NOT THE ROUTE OF HER HOME AND THE PUB. THE DIRECTION SHE WAS TRAVELING WOULD HAVE HER COMING FROM DOWNTOWN HARRISONBURG NOT THE PUB. MY DEEPEST CONDOLENSES TO THE ANDERSON FAMILY, ONE NEVER KNOWS WHAT IT IS LIKE UNTIL THEY HAVE GONE THROUGH FOR THEMSELVES. GOD BLESS!

REPLY TO bessfriend1: You stated you couldn't take sides on this and then turned right around and said Mrs. Anderson shouldn't have been jogging in the middle of the street ~ HELLO WAKE UP she WAS NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. "Bess" shouldn't have been on the street AT ALL cause she was DRUNK! WAKE UP you are contradicting yourself by claiming you can't take sides then you come with such a stupid comment towards Mrs. Anderson. You never once made any comments about "YOUR FRIEND BESS" and her careless actions. HAD YOUR FRIEND NOT BEEN ON THE ROAD DRIVING WITH HER DRUNKEN SELF MRS. ANDERSON WOULD STILL BE HERE. As for Bess' boyfriend in my eyes he is no better than any of her friends or co-workers that allowed her to drive herself home DRUNK! MARSHA GARST NEEDS TO SHOW THE CITY SOME JUSTICE IN THIS CASE AND NOT A SLAP ON THE WRIST AGAIN FOR BESS and ABC NEEDS TO DO THE SAME WITH THE PUB ~ SHUT THEM DOWN.

I agree with the other comments,WHAT IN THE WORLD was this judge thinking! How dare you even let this irresponsible, careless character out on bond. It's a good thing I am not Mrs. Anderson's sister, it would have been on in the court room when bond was given!!! She needs to be treated just like any other criminal because that's exactly what she is. Come on parents why did you not reccommed to the judge that your daughter stay put. Sure she is upset, she has been exposed to the public, but she went home and got right in her bed and slept it off!! How do you not stop if your windsheild has been shattered that goes to show you she is reckless!!! When I read the comment about stopping for a dog i wanted to vomit!! This young lady and the Pub should pay dearley for this.Maybe she needs to go to the morgue and spend some time reflecting on what she did. NO PITTY COMING FROM STAUNTON!!!!

Sherry wasn't running in the middle of the road. She was off to the side where bicyclists ride. She was wearing reflective clothing. You cann't run long distance in a gym. Ms. Jones doesn't remember the incident because she was to drunk. How can you not know you hit something. She knew she hit something but she knew she was drunk again so she was protecting herself. I hope she gets a long sentence for this. Sherry was a friend and a great person. She will be greatly missed.

WOW...BOND!?!?! Are you seriously kidding me?!?!? This young women takes a mother away from her four children for no apparent reason and the judge gives her bond?! WOW. Drugs dealers often don't get bond, yet this women took someones life and all she gets is a $30,000 bond? The system is so backwards! Bond should be out of the question...shame, shame on the Rockingham County Circuit Court judge who ok'ed her release!

I FEEL FOR THE FAMILY OF MRS. ANDERSON AND WISH THEM ALL THE VERY BEST. AS FOR MS. JONES I DON'T HAVE ANY COMPASSION FOR HER FOR SHE KNEW SHE WAS DRINKING AND SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN DRIVING. YES I KNOW FOR SOME PEOPLE DRINKING IS A PROBLEM BUT IT REALLY SHOWS THAT SHE IS GONNA DO WHAT SHE WANT REGARDLESS OF WHAT HAPPENS FOR SHE WAS JUST CONVICTED IN AUGUST OF DUI. SHE DIDN'T LEARN FROM THAT THEN SHE JUST DOESN'T CARE. I CAN'T SEE HOW SHE DIDN'T KNOW THAT SHE HIT SOMETHING IF SHE KNE SHE WAS LOOKING FOR A CD. IN MY OPPION THIS IS JUST PLAIN MURDER TO NOT HAVE STOPPED TO SEE WHAT SHE HIT OR SHE KNEW AND DIDN'T CARE. IF SHE HD STOPPED AND CALLED FOR HELP THEN PERHAPS THIS COULD HAVE SAVED A LIFE. AS FOR THE PUB THAT BAR SHOULD BE JUST AS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OWNERS ARE IN THERE AT NIGHTS AS WELL AND HOW COULD THEY NOT KNOW THEIR EMPLOYEES WERE DOING THIS AND CAN THEY SHOW THE ABC BOARD PROOF OF THEIR SALES COMPARED TO WHAT THEY HAVE ON HAND TO SEE HOW MUCH PRODUCT IS MISSING FROM THEIR

i think she should have to stand in front of these children and explain why their mother is no longer with them. why did the bars continue to serve her alcohol?
