There's a development in the case against a woman recently charged with murdering two Staunton women 41 years ago.

Sharron Diane Crawford Smith was scheduled for an advisement hearing Wednesday to determine her counsel.

Staunton Commonwealth's Attorney Raymond C. Robertson says he got a letter from Crawford's doctor stating the woman is too sick to appear in court.

Robertson says the woman is dying of heart disease and kidney failure.

The hearing is delayed until March 11, but there is looming doubt about how long the woman will survive and if the case will ever go to trial.

I say bring the trial to her, we have the technology. She needs to answer for what she did in a court of law.
