Sen. Robert C. Byrd says he's loved every minute of his 50 years in the U.S. Senate.

Byrd celebrated his half-century of service Wednesday as the 111th Congress convened.

The 91-year-old West Virginia Democrat is the longest-serving senator in history. He first won election to the Senate in 1958 after serving in the House and the West Virginia Legislature.
