Waynesboro Police have confirmed that a possible abduction of a woman from the Kroger store on Arch Avenue was really a group of teens playing around.

As a result of media coverage after the incident occurred, Sgt. Brian Edwards says the teens starting turning themselves in around 9 p.m. Thursday.

Edwards says the teens were not aware of consequences following their actions and charges are not likely at this time.

Immediately after the incident occurred just before 4 p.m., police reported that a 14- to 20-year-old girl had been possibly abducted by two men driving a green Ford Windstar van in front of the store. Two people witnessed the event.

thank heavens this was a hoax, but i hope they remember the story of the "boy who cried wolf". it is not funny to worry people like this and spend man hours looking for people that are playing a joke. they should have to pay for those man hours if nothing else. maybe that will teach them that people pay for their actions and others will learn that doing these type of things are wrong.
