A family of three in Augusta County is homeless after a fire destroyed their home Friday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived on the scene around 12:45 p.m. after a passerby reported smoke coming from the house.

Ninety-five percent of the modular home was consumed. It took at least 20 firefighters to extinguish the flames.

As of 2:15 p.m., Lt. Tim Kaircofe said he expected his crews to be on the scene for hours longer.

Kaircofe said, "There is no idea on how it started. We've done preliminary with family members asked key questions. The Virginia State Police said protocol is going to assisted with the investigation at this time, and it’s going to be several hours or until tomorrow until we are able to get into the structure."

All three family members are okay. The Red Cross will be taking care of the family over the next 48 hours.

is this the same fire from Hermitage - the family of 5 (Trainum)or another tragic fire.

It was a family of 5. Me,my 2 sisters and my parents.

Where was the home located? What fire companies responded. Any injuries?
