A tractor-trailer driver and a student driver trainee have been killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 79 in Lewis County.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Department says the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. Monday near the 101.5 mile marker.

Neither victim was identified, pending notification of relatives.

The sheriff's department says the driver lost control on the icy highway and the rig hit a guardrail, rolled over an embankment and caught fire.

The rig was owned and operated by Werner Enterprises.

The investigation is continuing.
