Prince William County police have arrested a Manassas woman on a child neglect charge following the death of her 13-year-old daughter.

Forty-four-year-old Alfreedia Gregg-Glover also is charged with filing a false police report. She is the adoptive mother of Alexis "Lexie" Glover, a developmentally disabled girl found dead Friday.

The girl's body was found in a Prince William County creek Friday, about eight miles from the library parking lot where she disappeared Wednesday.

Police said Wednesday that Gregg-Glover knew her daughter was dead and where the body was located long before it was discovered. They say she placed the girl in the creek before reporting her missing.

Police have stopped short, however, of calling the death of 13-year-old Alexis "Lexie" Glover a homicide and declined to say whether she was dead when she was placed in the creek.

Gregg-Glover is being held without bond.
